I like what Ed as the anime ended:
A lesson without pain is meaningless. That's because no one can gain without sacrificing something. But by enduring that pain and overcoming it, he shall obtain a powerful, unmatched heart. A fullmetal heart.
Overall, that single thought of Ed is the main moral of the story, and I guess that's what we all realized in the end.
I will be mentioning the ending story lines of the different characters in FMA. If they are not especially mentioned, then that means that they remained as in in their life.
1. Edward Elric
Ed came back to Resembool along with Al, and they are greeted with a tearful Winry. As expected, he cannot use alchemy anymore but is still willing to study more about it, especially that Nina's case is something that they can't forget. He will travelling to the West to know more about alchemy but before he left, he proposed to Winry in an alchemical fashion.
Eventually, they get married and bore to children, as indicated in the photo being shown in the ending credits.
2. Alphonse Elric
Having got his body back, Al is again trying to cope up with his body. His muscles have become weak because of the length of time that it lack nutrition and so he first uses crutches to walk. Eventually, he gets adjusted to his normal life and will also travel to Xing to study alkahestry with May. He will be accompanied by Zampano and Zerso, who is also in search of ways to restore their old bodies back.
In the epilogue, it is implied that he is romantically involved with May Chang.
3. May Chang
After the battle with Father, May goes back to Xing with Ling and Lan Fan. In the time skip, a teenage May is shown in the portrait, along with Al.
4. Ling Yao
Having the Philosopher's Stone, his clan will now be in power over the others. However, Ling promised to May that he will protect each and everyone clan in his family once he became the Emperor. May thinks that this is too greedy, and Ling says that Greed's greediness rubbed off him. Epilogue of the story confirms that he became the Emperor years after.
5. Roy Mustang
After the battle with Father, Roy is in a hospital. But he is not down nor sad. He is studiously studying facts about the Isvhal because he plans to reconcile with them before he assumes power as the Fuhrer President. He plans to let them return to their homeland. His blindness is not a hindrance for him, and that he will move forward. Dr. Knox came along with Marcoh. Marcoh offers his Philospher's Stone to restore Roy's eyesight. For the meantime, Grumman has hold the Fuhrer President position.
It is also interesting to note that before using the stone to heal his eyes, Roy decided to heal Havoc's legs first using the power of the stone.
Years passed and the epilogue says that Roy has been promoted and Riza is still with him.
6. Scar
He is secretly saved by Olivier since he will be useful in Roy's new Ishval policy. Together with Miles, they will help and cooperate on the different efforts to rebuild their nation, their culture and their lives. He accepted the mission, thinking that it was what his brother wanted and that he believes that this is the reason why he is still alive.
7. Yoki, Heinkel and Darius
The epilogue shows the three of them joining a circus.
8. Falman
He is shown to have two kids that looks like him, implying that they are his sons. Also, his uniform suggests that he got promoted to Captain.
9. Selim Bradley
He is the one and only surviving homonculus, acting as a regular child under the care of Mrs. Bradley. As of the ending, he doesn't have any recollection of the previous events and Mrs. Bradley vows to keep him this way.
I love this ending tons more! And thank you for explaining some of the endings for me, like what happened to Yoki, and that Falman had children. Some were just to vague for me. And Roy looks very nice with a moustache.
ReplyDeleteI just knew that Ed was unhappy because he was leaving her, but I was in no way expecting that... retarded proposal! And Winry just goes and gives it all to him, then starts subtracting! And how dare he grow tall! xD I had hoped their child would be a little hybrid, but oh well, they each get little mini-mes!
Pride is soooo cute as a little baby homonculus, although I do not understand why that symbol is on his head. I wonder if he would attack anyone who hurt Mama? *ponders* *ponders*
Thank you for following this series to the not so bitter end!
