Episode 52: Everyone's Strength

If I am to choose the hero of the episode, it's going to be Yoki!!!!
On an another note, I really enjoyed Al's fight with Pride. It really looks cooooool!!

Picking up from the previous episode, Al's fight with Kimblee and Pride is really great all thanks to the philosopher's stone Heinkel gave to him. Pretty much of the time, Al uses the same strategies to defeat the two.

Al somehow managed to trap Pride in a cone shaped earth, leaving Kimblee in the battlefield. They had a short conversation about making choices. Kimblee wonders why Al and Ed didn't use the stone to save themselves and recover their bodies. Al wonderfully answers that what he wants to do is save the world and at the same time recover their bodies. Evil as he is, Kimblee replied that what will happen will neither what he wants. Then, Kimblee began to use his own philosopher's stone to create a really huge explosion.

In Central HQ, the battle with Sloth continues. Major Armstrong continues to use his alchemy towards the homonculus but unfortunately, they are not enough to injure him. With the help of Olivier, Sloth was stabbed in the head, making him die. Because of this, Sloth decides to get serious with the fight. Using his speed, he charges forward and Olivier nearly gets caught by it. Sloth then reveals that he is in fact the fastest homonculus despite his huge body but as Olivier noticed, he is so speed that everytime he charges, he cannot control his direction. After a several tries, Sloth finally cornered Olivier.

Thanks to Major Armstrong, Olivier is safe. He jumped right in time to protect his sister from being crushed by Sloth. Major Armstrong then sends Sloth to the ground by hitting the ground. Major Armstrong has some joints dislocated because of blocking the attack while Olivier had a broken a bone or two. Suddenly, Sloth returns and is now ready to crush Major Armstrong.

The scene shifts back to Al, Kimblee and Pride. From the explosion that happened, Pride was freed from the earth-cone. Al is hiding but Kimblee uses small rocks to locate Al's location. The fight continues and Al again creates an explosion to create smoke. This time, Pride is ready and he is able to stab Al. Thinking that it is already checkmate, he is surprised to realize that Al's true intention was to hide Dr. Marcoh who has the philosopher's stone to heal Heinkel. Al has also determined the direction of the wind so that Pride he cannot use his keen sense of smell. With this opportunities open, Heinkel charges on Kimblee and bites him on the neck.

Pride then attacks toward Heinkel but Heinkel used Kimblee as a human shield. Surprisingly, Pride hesitated and didn't continue. Pride warns that they cannot win as long as their Father is in Central. He then turns himself to Dr. Marcoh and lunges and attack but Yoki arrived with a car. With this, they are able to escape from Pride but Kimblee doesn't. Lying on the ground, nearly dying, Pride consumed the Crimson Alchemist and he became a part of him.

Going back to Mustang's group, they were able to return to Central by changing the truck label to a meat shop. With this, they get unnoticed by the guards who are so focused into finding an ice cream labeled truck. Roy decides to leave the outside to the Briggs soldiers and heads underground.

Back to the Armstrong siblings, Major Armstrong temporarily stopped Sloth by impaling him on the month. The soldiers then arrive surrounding them, but the siblings kinda ignored them. Alex wants to inherit the Armstrong Manor and he wants to keep her sister alive to formalize the inheritance. Right outside, they can hear gunshots. They thought it was Mustang's group but they are wrong! The immortal dolls are attacking and Olivier forced the soldiers to be decisive: to kill the two of them and eventually killing themselves or helpong them defeat the homonculus and have chance of living again. Sloth also regenerates at around this time.

In the underground, May Chang is evading all of Envy's attack while dodging the immortal mannequins who are also underground. Envy ends up consuming them but May Chang does this on purpose because it is easier to run away from one person.

For Ed's group, they are at their limit facing the limitless immortal army. Just as everyone is getting tired, Mustang and Hawkeye arrives to help them.

  1. The Al/Pride fight was pretty fun to watch (or read, in my case xp). I have to love how the animated the fight scene though, it really did the manga justice!

  2. It just gets better and better and better! Al was a.w.e.s.o.m.e, I personally liked how the sword appeared, and how he used it. Ah, I felt bad for Ed, he seemed to hate having to battle those mannequins.
I agree with your statement about Yoki. He is basically a normal guy, having to deal with all this crap. I doubt I could have had the courage to drive in there like that, let alone HIT the guy! And he was scared to death, poor thing.
BTW, an impaled Sloth is icky D:

The preview of the next story made me think that Roy finally finds what he has been searching for. I want flame action!!!!! >8D

really? i didn't read the manga so i am so much contended with the anime version...but it's a good thing that the manga was given justice.

  4. The story in the anime has almost caught up with the manga. Does anyone if whether FMA:Brotherhood veers off from the manga story when it catches up with the latter, uses filler arcs to give the manga writer more time, or will end soon?

I don't want the anime to end though, but I don't want fillers that have entirely no connection to the main plot. T_T

  5. @Conan Hughes

    It is said that in July, the second season of Sengoku Basara will replace FMA. No news yet if FMA will go on hiatus or will be moved on a time slot. We all just have to wait ^^;
