Episode 5: The School's Lament

This is a very heart-warming episode. Mirai is finally acting fine.

I still have lots of Tokyo Magnitude episodes to catch up but I am promise to bring them all to you ASAP.

For me, the most important value that could be learned from this episode is about bayanihan, in Filipino terms. For those who are not familiar, bayanihan refers to a spirit of communal unity or effort to achive a particular objective.

I am really amazed with the volunteers who are assisting the victims of the earthquake. They themselves have experience a lost or any form of pain because of the earthquake but they still mange to get up and help other people. Even simple acts of distributing water or giving them a nice place to rest is more than enough to touch the victim's vulnerable heart. It could somehow enlightem them on their cross and for a while, they could feel that somebody appreciates them.

In this episode, Mirai and company took refuge at her school during the night, but their stay there becomes far from peaceful as they are constantly plagued by aftershocks and depressed by the sight of those who lost their relatives to the earthquake. Mirai also saw her classmate who lost his parents in the earthquake. Mirai lamented the fact that he cannot do a thing for her.

For me, in situations such as these, it is really hard to do something for others especially when you can't do for yourself. Big things are always appreciated but in the small ways that we are able to help other people, these memories could last a lifetime.
