A very nice and simple way of arranging flowers!

Ikebana 生け花 is the Japanese way of arranging flowers. It is also known as Kado 華道 which means, the way of the flowers.

Ikebana is more than just a way to arrange flowers. It is a disciplined art form that combines nature and humanity. Contrary to the typical flower arrangement where it is just a collection of different flowers combined, Ikebana stresses the other areas of the plant, such as its stems and leaves, and draws emphasis towards shape, line, form. Items that would be used in the Ikebana should be organic and should reflect the arranger's intention and message.

Ikebana also reflects the idea of minimalism. Flowers to be used have minimum number of blooms interspersed among stalks and leaves. The structure of the arrangement is based on a triangle delineated by three main points, usually twigs, considered in some schools to symbolize heaven, earth, and man and in others sun, moon, love & earth.

Ikebana flower arrangers practice silence while doing the arrangements. It is a time to appreciate things in nature that people often overlook because of their busy lives. One becomes more patient and tolerant of differences, not only in nature, but also in general. Ikebana can inspire to identify with beauty in all art forms. This is also the time when one feels closeness to nature which provides relaxation for the mind, body, and soul.
