Artist of the Month: Rie Fu

Artist of the Month:
Rie Fu

Rie Funakoshi or Rie Fu as she known is our artist for the month of June. She's born on January 11, 1985 in Tokyo, Japan. Even though she is Japan-born, her family lived in Maryland for a few years (1993-1995) where she met her musical inspirations namely Sherly Crow, Michelle Branch, and the 1970 group, The Carpenters. Most of her songs are multi-lingual since she is fluent in both English and Japanese.

Her notable songs are Life is Like a Boat which was used as Bleach's ending theme, Gundam Seed's Destiny's third ending song, I Wanna Go A Place and Darker than Black's first ending song, Tsuki Akari. To date, she has released five albums and 13 singles, the latest of which is Urban Romantic and Present, respectively.

Every time Rie Fu will release a new song, it's a must that I will download and listen to it. Rie Fu never fails to amuse me with her music and with her words. They are all well written and the melody is something that my ears always enjoy. Even though her songs are somewhat slow and would make you feel sleepy at times, they are still relaxing to listen. Rie Fu's songs are my music when I need calm down and be relaxed.
