Fullmetal Alchemist - Episode 56

Episode 56: The Return of the Fuhrer President

This is the MOST ACTION packed episode I ever watched. All the time I am watching, I found myself reacting and I nearly fell of my chair. For real.

Basically, there are three things that happened in this episode: 1st, a brief look at Hoenheim's past and how he managed to come to Xing; 2nd, the continuation of Father and Hoenheim fight; and 3rd, is the comeback of the Fuhrer President.

1st: Hoenheim's Past:

After Xerxes was destroyed because of the Homonculus, Hoenheim escapes and is now walking weakly at the desert. He is mumbling to himself words like "Listen to....you are not alone, I am here". He passes out and is found by travelling merchants from Xing who gave him water. They know that the guy they found was from the west because of his golden hair. Their camels carried him and before he passes out again, he continues to mumble that he is sorry and that he is scared that's why he ran away.

2nd: Father vs. Hoenheim

Hoenheim explains to Father the reason why he cannot steal his philosopher's stone and how his hand is throbbing right now. He then began to mention names like: Sergence, a master carpenter, Dozle, Sergence's son who wants to succeed him, Caiya, a kind florist girl, Sari, the horse owner, Tommy, a young boy, Gidalush, a chef, Andal, a fellow slave and Zul, a hopeless criminal waiting for execution. These people, or these souls to be exact are waiting for their turn to get back at Father. Hoenheim, for the past years of his immortal life has talked to every single soul inside him. He tried to understand, a total of 536,329 souls and he asked for their cooperation to help him in his fight with Father. Unfathomable this is for Father, Hoenheim says that Father failed to do this and just viewed humans as a source of energy.

The souls are now doing their thing as Father's body gets impaled a number of times. Hoenheim wants to destroy the container body of Father so that he cannot continue on surviving. But the story is not yet ending, as the homonculus who was once a small creature inside a flask, has now gotten big and can retain a human-like form even without a container. Then lots of eyes open, with a VERY HUGE eye, much similar to Pride's. He then says to Hoenheim that he is not the only one who improved over time.

3rd: The Return of the Fuhrer President

Wrath enters the castle through the main gate easily. He mercilessly slashed everyone and everything in his way. His incredible speed and sword technique enabled him to dodge everything: missiles, bullets, tanks, gunfires. At the top, Bucanneer readies his troops. But as the President arrives, Buccanneer has no match as Bradley esily slices down his automail in one go.

Falman is guarding the door and he is ready to guard his post to death. He is ready to die and already said his goodbyes to Mustang. But what do you know, Buccanner is still alive and scolds Falman for crying like a girl. Bucanneer is ready to fight once again.

This is when Greed enters the scene. Falman recognizes him as the Prince of Xing, and Ling is also happy to see him. He said that he still owes him a lot for saving his life previously. This chat  is not so long as Greed returns and gets ready to fight Bradley. As they fight, Bradley recalls how he was able to survive the train bombing. He used his Ultimate Eye to look at his escape route and this, able to survive the crash.

Btw, his wife is already relieved that she heard the news that his husband is alive.

The fight continues and Greed is aiming for his blind spot, thanks to Ling who taught him this technique. Well, Wrath has his answer to that- he removed his patch to give him a full access to his eyes. Buccanneer also joins the fight in revenge of the many Briggs soldiers who died. Bradley impaled the Briggs Captain with his sword but surprisingly, Buccaneer is still alive, thanks to his firm ab muscles. Since Wrath has no sword to use, he then grabs a pair of knives to continue the fight.

Central soldiers arrives to take back their place while Falman ordered the other men to take care of Buccaneer. In the middle of the Greed-Wrath fight, Fu arrives in the scene to wipe a huge amount of Central and he arrives just in time when Greed is already being pushed back.

Fu hates Greed for being inside his master's body but thanks him anyway because he was able to locate them because of his aura. Greed introduces him to Bradley and he is getting ready to get his vengeance from him for cutting off his grand daughter's arm.
