Episode 22: The Distant Backside

This is basically an episode that dealt with the past of Scar and Winry's parents.

As I was watching this episode from Animax, I am wondering all the name of Scar's brother. In the previous adaptation of FMA, I think the name of the brother is Dante... but I think right now, Scar's brother is simply known as "Scar's brother".

Anyway, Scar didn't really mean to kill Winry's parents, at least that's what I think. Being the only survivor of the the attack, he was devastated with the thought that his brother is already dead along with his parents. More so, he saw his brother's arms attached to his that added to his aggravation. He mistakenly thought that the people who saved him are the people who caused such chaos to his life.

People from Ametris has blue eyes. So in his memory, all the state alchemist has the trade mark blue eyes. Winry's parents also has blue eyes and so he thought that Mr. and Mrs. Rockbell are the very same people, while in fact they are just innocent doctors who saves lives may it be enemy or not.

There is really not much different with regards to Scar's past as compared to the previous adaptation. He still got his arm from his brother who voluntarily gave it to him. It was still Kimbly who caused the explosion that killed hundreds of Ishvalan. His brother is still an alchemy genius and who gave up his own life just to let him live.

The others in town had hoped that Scar’s brother’s research could lead to a power that could oppose the State Alchemists, but Scar saw alchemy as something that just led to more death and destruction. Scar's experience is alchemy is not that pleasant and alchemist caused his brother and other family members to die. That's the root of Scar's hatred towards alchemist and as to why he decided to punish alchemist with his own hands.

As for Winry, she knew the truth behind Scar and her parents and she broke down into tears. She got hold of a gun but didn't get to shoot Scar even though she is full of hatred towards him, she can't get the courage to shoot. Ed consoled her saying that her hands are used to give life and not to take someone else's life.

And oh, about Wrath, Lan Fan, Gluttony and Ling, they are still fighting. Lan Fan is injured and is being carried by Ling. They almost got away thanks to the flashbang that she dropped but this is nothing with his Ultimate Eye. Their battle will be continued in the next episode.
