Now, this isn't a screenshot from episode 04, but an overall summary of my feelings regarding the episode. For those who understand what I mean, good.
If you wish to proceed with the entry, please be warned that the rest of the post is clearly ranting.
Fans are led to dismay learning that season 2 starts with a re-run of episode 8 in season one. I actually let that slide since I don't recall memories of season one anymore, so I thought a refresher was nice. Episode two was named "Endless Eight" and this time, the episode felt like a filler -- but not. Come episode three, which is also called "Endless Eight", it became a truncated version of episode 2 plus feelings of Deja vu and the knowledge that the world has been experiencing the same summer for more than 15,000 times. Okay, plot twist. Forgivable.
...and now, I am to discuss episode four...
which is a total repeat of episode three -- without add-ons, just different outfits.
WTH MAN!
Sure some say "third time's the charm!" but this is just mindfuckery.
The only thing that stuck to me is that this iteration is supposed to be the "15,499"th time. Which means that the next episode, which I'm fucking sure is going to be looped again, will be the 15,500th episode.
I hope that number actually means something. Because I actually wanted something to happen in this episode only to find disappointment.
I think I was right when I said they're running out of materials to make episodes out of.
SRSLY.
/rant over.
The sad thing is that there is plenty of material for more episodes, but at the rate things are going, it feels like a whole lot more episodes will be devoted to a short story than for a story arc that fills an entire book.
ReplyDeleteI'm not really sure if having more story material is a good or a bad thing... all I know is that KyoAni is currently trolling their fanbase ><;
ReplyDeleteRunning out of material to make episodes out of? You know this is based off of a light novel that has plenty more books to go off of, yeah? This is KyoAni trolling again, and I personally find it hilarious.
ReplyDeleteAnyone getting honestly upset about it I'm also laughing at; I mean they had to repeat it 15k times in the story, and here we are getting just a few of em. Sure we're getting screwed with, but I'm not going to cry about it and say the series/KyoAni sucks for it~
@Anon: Ohai. Sorry for that error on my part, I've only been sticking to the anime so I haven't seen the light novels, but that's how I felt towards the looping episodes.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to provide some form of amusement for you then! I'm still disappointed with how they're devoting x number of episodes to this short arc and I don't think that's going to change.
Same anon here-
ReplyDeleteYeah, I mean I get where people are coming from, but I suppose it's not like it's my funding money being spend to animate several similar episodes..KyoAni is pushing their own limits here, but like I said, it's still slightly amusing.
If you read the light novels though, you'll really see why many fans (like me) thing this is funny, but really really want to get to the Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya at some point. It was a great read and slated for this season, but with the way it's going now...eh.
